Unit Description :
All recent graduates and nurses with less than one year of experience can now begin their career at DHMC through our Perioperative 101 Program. This is a comprehensive, 9-month program specifically designed to meet the unique needs of today’s new OR nurses. The program incorporates an orientation that focuses on the skills and knowledge base required for nursing in DHMC’s academic, progressive, acute care environment. Using varied clinical rotations through all surgical services within the OR, nurses will strengthen their assessment, critical thinking and clinical skills expected of the DHMC OR nurse to function in the circulator role. Nurses are also exposed to the scrub RN role.
