The Medical Oncology Unit is a 30-bed inpatient nursing unit that provides care to adult patients with medical, surgical and oncological diseases. The unit features all private rooms and includes 3 palliative care suites. We also have a specialty focus on Dementia Capable Care with a program for patients experiencing cognitive decline with patient centered activities. RN’s in this unit are not responsible for administering treatments to oncology patients (sometimes the Oncology in the title gives the wrong impression) any oncology treatments are administered through our Cancer Center or Infusion Department. The Medical Oncology unit is a general medical unit.
